Oh Great One,
I have followed you through the sands of time,
Through thick and thin
I have seen it all
The beginning age of man...
I slaved in turmoil as we erected the Great Pyramids
I forged for food in the back jungles of Africa
I stood proudly as Caesar led his empire
I fought bravely as we expanded throughout the Mediterranean
Traveled the world, I have
From the mystical fakirs of India
To the powerful dynasties of China
From the peaceful plains of Jerusalem
To the scorching desert of the Gobi
I watched as Rome fell
Indeed, I have seen both Heaven and Hell
Believe me, I was a Crusader
A mighty and holy warrior
Fighting for what I believed in
Oh yes, I was there
As the Great Plague bewildered our people
I was with you when you sailed the ocean blue
Exploring new worlds
In an earth so big, yet so small
The Renaissance
A time of culture and learning
A time of deeper thought and intellectualism
Yes, we were the great philosophers of that day
Can you recall the countless gallons of tea we tossed
That night in Boston Harbor
I listened as bells rang out in joy
And a new country was born
I fought side by side with you
In the nation's darkest hour
We looked on
As numerous innovations saw the light of day
Some for the better
Some for the worse
We were there on the date that lives forever in infamy
We watched the warfare of men,
The cruel acts that one race can inflict upon itself
And we looked on as they put the first man on the moon
I have seen the world grow
We have seen the world grow
Through pain and anguish,
Joy and sorrow
This world has flourished and suffered
So I will continue to follow you
Until the end of time
So that maybe one day we may ultimately understand this gift of life.
